They don't teach that he lives ON Kolob, but that Kolob is nearest to Heaven and his Kingdom.

Kolob, signifying the first creation, nearest to the celestial, or the residence of God. First in government, the last pertaining to the measurement of time. The measurement according to celestial time, which celestial time signifies one day to a cubit. One day in Kolob is equal to a thousand years according to the measurement of this earth, which is called by the Egyptians Jah-oh-eh.

If you examine the scripture carefully, it merely says Kolob is the planet nearest to where God dwells. However, the location of Kolob is not given, so the question remains unanswered. Perceptive people might actually catch on to an important truth here -- that where God lives isn't the real issue.

The scripture does, however, reveal some very interesting things about the universe, including some interesting ideas about the relativity, time and space -- all translated over a hundred years before a certain Princeton professor wrote on the subject.

Kolob is the place nearest where He lives... we also do not know where Kolob is... and just for the info of that 1st answerer... John Smith is involved in Pocahontas, not the founding of our LDS church.

I'd also like to rebuff is Revelations reference; it is referring to the fact that no one should add to the book of revelations. This is also stated in Deuteronomy, but there is still additions to the bible after Deuteronomy

John Smith got his teachings from a demon who wanted to start another religion on earth to add to the mass confusion of religious beliefs out there. And only the LDS would agree that the book of Mormon is cannonized. This, however is in clear violation of Revelation 21:18, 19: "I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll."
