my hair grows really slowly but i've noticed that if i drink loads of milk and eat a lot of protein containing foods (chicken, fish) my hair and nails grow quicker.

I used to have really long hair down to my hips. The key to keeping it long and healthy was doing the minimal of chemical/heat exposure to it. I never blew my hair dry or curled it. I never permed it. I did color it occasionally, but that was my only vice. I did routinely do deep hair treatments. My friend was a hair dresser and he recommended that I put a little mayonnaise on the ends and length for a treatment. I know it sounds disgusting, but it really worked better than any over the counter product I have ever tried. When you read the ingredients of most hair conditioners you will notice the presence of alcohol a drying agent. Although this may temporarily increase the shine of your hair, it is actually damaging the hair follicle and long term use damages your hair. There is no trick to making your hair grow more quickly. The trick is to keep it healthier so that it requires less trims and therefore is able to grow long.
Good luck!

One of the factors has to do with genetics. The others are as follows:
1) After taking a shower, pull your hair up a little to make it reach the roots more. Dont pull hard.
2) Cut the split ends, get a trim at the salon. Just a trim, not more than an inch
3) Keep it exposed and wrapped loosely. Caps and hats disable it to react with air which helps it to grow. Tight ponytails also do this
4) Dont waste your money on shampoos, every one's hair grows at a different rate.

I started using a deep conditioner called 'Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor' about 4 months ago to improve the condition of my hair, and have noticed that my hair has grew alot since then. I think the key to growing your hair long quickly is for it to be in a good condition, and Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor definitely helps your hair get into a good condition!

Calcium supplements( hair, nails, bones, Etc). You are what you eat.many other supplements would be helpful too. Or get a good and understanding hair stylist that will teach you how to grow hair, and without chopping your hair off every other week. Can be done. Some people are not patient enough to grow hair, so be prepared for a long journey. Good luck in you new venture of growing hair, NOT easy.

A beautician friend told me to massage your scalp daily which gets the blood flow going and encourages growth. Also, deep-conditioning once a week keeps the hair shiny and reduces split ends and breakage--the two major sources that stop hair growth. When you do see split ends and breakage, get them trimmed. Try to sleep on a satin pillowcase or use a satin scarf to tie your hair up before you go to bed--cotton encourages dead ends and breakage, too. Try to avoid products containing alcohol since they promote dryness which in turn contributes to dead ends and breakage. Instead, seek out products that have ingredients like jojoba oil, sesame oil, shea butter or olive oil which mimics natural hair oils. You may also want to avoid hairstyles that stresses the hair like ponytails for example, and avoid excessive heat styling from blow dryers, curling irons, straighteners, etc. Drinking plenty of water, managing stress levels and eating a diet full of fresh fruits and veggies, protein and eggs accompanied by a multivitamin helps, too.
Though much of hair growth is controlled by genetics, these tips should help start your hair growing. Good Luck!!!

Wrap and braid your hair at night it will stop ot from breaking off. Because there is friction between your hair rubbing up against the sheets and pillows. Also sleep on satin pillow cases becuase it creates less friction on your hair if you don't want to wrap it. Use products like olive oil, sesame seed oil, rosemary oil, jojoba oila and shea butter. Don't use petroleum or mineral oil because they will clog your pours in your hair and cause dandruff and breakage. Also get your ends clipped every six weeks. Do a deep condition or hot oil treatment once a month. Drink plenty of water and eat plenty of vegetables. And be happy because stress can cause hair loss.

A slight trim (not a major cut) every now and then can help reduce the split ends which are part of your problem. A good nightly brushing can help stimulate your scalp and the hair folicles; it alsowill result in a glossier look by speading your natural hair oil.
