Inches. To lose weight, you need to exercise. When you exercise, you lose fat, but gain muscles. Muscles are heavier that fat. So go with inches. Pounds will disappoint you.

First of all, someone said fat turns into muscle.....that's false. Fat burns off. Muscle mass builds from protein.
Second of all, someone said, muscle weighs more than fat....that's false. Which weighs more, a pound of fat or a pound of muscle? I hope you say the same. The difference is, muscle contains more density and would require more in an area to weigh the same as fat which would require less in the same area.
Therefore, when building muscle mass, which you will do when you exercise, you will gain muscle weight even though you lose fat. This can fool people when using the scale because they may only see a small weight loss, or even a gain (depneding on their weight training exercises) when they step on the scale.
Your best option is to always "measure" yourself to determine improvements.

I say inches cause muscle weighs more thank fat. I have lost more inches than weight i have gone from a size 24 plus size to a 14 on my way to a 12 but when i was a 12 years ago i weighed 125lbs now in almost the same size and i weigh 165 so i have lost he inches but weigh more cause of muscle and that to me matters more than what the scale states.

DEFINATLY inches. because if you are toning while you are losing weight, then when your fat turns to mucsle, it will wiegh more. I started a diet last year, and for the first couple of months, i was loosing pounds, but then for some reason i stopped, but i noticed that my clothes were looser and i looked thiner. so i asked the trainer at my gym and he told me this. Then I bought a scale at walmart. it was 50 bucks and it will measure your body fat and tell you if you weight is going up or down and also how much body fat youre losing(which is what you want). so if you have it to invest, I would recomend it. I love mine. but also keep measuring yourself, so if your not loosing weight youre probaly still losing inches.. GOOD LUCK! :)

I think inches. Because muscle weighs more than fat. So as you tone up, the fat will disappear, but you may not lose any weight for a while. And if you rely on the scale alone, then you may not be satisfied with the results.

I have a scale but I think its better to go by inches and how your clothes fit. You can measure yourself at a friend's house to get your starting weight if you want to know what it is....then after you feel like you have lost weight, go and measure yourself again.

First you should consider that muscle weighs more than fat. You should definately go by the inches you lose rather than the actual pounds.

It's how many inches you lose off of your waist. Don't pay attention to the scale, rather pay attention to how your clothes fit.
