I started an weekly exercise program. Hit the gym every other day for 4 days a week. Do an hour of yoga on one of my days off.

I also take a multivitamin every other day along with a vitamin c supplement. I would like to take protein shakes now too to build muscle.

I'm about 6'1, 190. Ladies is that a good size? Is that big? I'm trying to build muscle, and tone it.

Can I just take one shake per week or do I have to take more? And is it true if you mix pineapple juice with vanilla whey protein it tastes more like pineapple juice (thus making it more tolerable to drink)?

Thanks!

First off, if you take a good multi you don't need to waste money on the vitamin c. You'll not only get it with your multi but any excess than what your body can absorb will just be flushed out, hence the vibrant flourecent color urine you ocassionally see.

People who exercise regularly try eating fewer portions but more times a day. And protien shakes are a great way of getting some good protien and needed calories without having to go through all the effort of cooking. Taking 1 shake a week probably won't make a difference, unless your around the 3% bodyfat and know exactly how many calories you are consuming each week. I usually drink a shake immediately after my exercise, then have something clean to eat 2hrs. later.

As for as pineapple juice, people say that b/c most pineapple juice if fairly concentrated in flavor while vanilla protien shakes are mild in flavor. But shop and look around, there are plenty of shakes that are more than tolerable.

you need about 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per lb of lean body mass.

so if you are 190 with an average body fat of say 16% that would be.

190 - 16% = 159

so your protein intake should be between 160-240 grams of protein a day. you want to divide your total protein intake by the number of meals a day that you eat which should be 5. so each meal would contain 32-48 grams of protein.

make sure you also consume at least the same amount of carbs per meal and some healthy fats (maybe 15-20 grams per meal)

It all sounds good but I hope this answers your protein question. Since you weight 190 ibs. I would suggest that you take about 350-375 grams of protein per day. Also try to get the whey protein with the most grams of protein in it. You could also go to GNC and get whey protein that comes in your desired flavor.

It style of relies upon on what education you're doing and what you're searching to attain. Are you attempting to shed weight or construct muscle etc. right now after (and through) heavy strenuous workouts your body is a lot extra receptive to the frame of mind of accepting protein and construction muscle fibres that are depleted for the period of that exercising. Your body can't keep protein a similar way it shops starch and fat etc, the body takes what it needs from the protein you ingest and then something is dealt with as waste. So in case you do come to a decision to take a protein shake do not drink all of it in a unmarried bypass spread it out over the day. with reference to uncomfortable aspect consequences some peoples stomachs do not react too nicely with some protein shakes (area of that could want to be because they take each of the days protein in a unmarried hit - as defined above - it merely comes good out lower back, waste of money!) yet in case you try a pair and take it good you should be ok. i in my opinion take CNP professional-mass and it does the trick for me. I take it daily that I practice and one on sunday to assist get over rugby on the saturday. 2 litres of milk is quite plenty, is it skimmed? in the different case theres a good number of fat and ldl cholesterol in there. To summarise, in the journey that your food are balanced and extreme in protein, ie eggs and fowl breasts etc then you truthfully shouldn't desire protein shakes in the present day because you should be starting up your education quite slowly and steadily construction into it. in case you commence to take longer to get better verify out bringing in some protein to assist that procedure. strong success and keep in mind that your body needs restore time to be able to strengthen ideal each so often you may overtrain and easily damage your progression. examine as a lot about the tutorial you're doing and bypass into it prepared to attempt and adjust to issues that artwork extra effective for you.

One shake a week is not enough...at least one a day would be more beneficial. Strawberries and bananas mixed with the protein powder and milk tastes really good...give it a try.
