I play poker for a living and I see, give and receive a lot of bat beat trust me..!! It'a part of the game, you need to adapte yourself to it.
I think freeroll are good for beginners, but you're right people play like maniacs and get pay of....what can you do. But it's a first step for some players who always play for "play money" now they have a goal (small I know) to make the money. If you think about it they can learn the structure of the game and unjoy with no risk, learn how to deal with bad beat, the raising of the blinds and if they do well, the focus on the game for several hours. It can be a good experience at a cheap price.

but just think...when that person beats you with an awful hand they will start believing they are good. Then they deposit and lose all their money! Fish are good for the Poker Economy, freerolls are like the bait.
