First off he was married by a baptist minister and if he is divorced, then he can get married in the Catholic church as the first wedding didn't occur under their doctrine. They do not recognize what is to them a civil wedding sanctioned by another church. But he will be forced to take confession and admit his sin first. That is what is so comical about religion today, you can pick and choose the sins you wish to violate and then claim to be a good christian.

Only if his ex had a prior marriage and got a divorced, then the marriage he had with his ex was not really a marriage in the eyes of the Catholic church. If both of them, you boyfriend and his ex, were never married before they got married, then the answer is no. The Catholic church does recongnize that marriage, and the only path would be an anulement..which has to be submitted through you Diocese to Rome (almost impossible if children were involved)

(a pasture isn't a priest, it somewhat is a container on which animals graze) Catholic clergymen are not getting married for many motives: to circumvent the handing-down of parishes from father to son, despite if the son isn't a mind-blowing chief. to make confident that the priest's concentration, time, an love is unfold the two throughout the time of the community. Having a spouse and youngsters could circumvent that, as a spouse and youngsters could require loads of affection and interest. The priest is likewise very lots supported through the parish. It can not have the money for to pay for a priest and his kin.

Did he get permission from the Catholic Church to be married in the Baptist Church. If not in the eyes of the Church he can get his marriage annulled as the Church does not recognise the marriage in another Church and if he has children they are legitimate not illegitimate

he can only get married in the catholic church if his first marriage is annulled by the catholic church; it's a long process (at least 6 months of paperwork & follow-up)

Probably has to get the first marriage annulled. That is a load of crap if he has children, it makes them bastards according to he paperwork. I would just get married by a non-denominational church instead, or any church that does not require any of that BS.

Baptists don't have priests. He might have to annul the marriage first - if they even recognized it at all ( the church).

In my experience, Catholics do whatever they want, as long as they say 50 'Hail Mary's' after confession.
