Move the poop inside the catbox and leave it. Don't cover it. Where does he pee? It might help to give him two boxes, one to pee in and one to poop. Male cats can be strange like that. If he doesn't like the texture of the litter, that might be the problem. He may not like large-grained litter. Shoving his nose in it isn't going to do anything, by the way, because the first thing they do after going (either) is to smell it. I had a cat (female) with this problem, and I sat her in the litter box after she ate and stood there until she did SOMETHING. That fixed it.

there is a litter out there called attract a cat. you can find it at petsmart for around $12.00. something about it the cat loves. maybe the cat is also being spiteful? have you recently changed litter, got a new cat or dog, new child in the family? also some cats do not like the smell of additives, or the feeling of certain kinds of litter. how old is your cat? maybe a painful blockage of some sort? if the attract a cat doesnt work, try taking you cat to you vet. depression could also be a factor!

clean you cat box. Try a new litter and/or litter box some cats don't like the dome ones. if you still cant stop the cat you might want to take it to the vet. Cats sometimes poop and pee in other places when sick.

This is a biggy. MOST cats especially if they are male will do odd behavior like that if they are in pain when they go use the litter box. Male cats can get a blocked urinary tract and can die with 2-3 days. TAKE your cat to a vet.......if not a male cat. Some cats do not like the litter you give them... They are many choices of litter.

if possible, put something like a box or large object where the cat has been going. if it is just missing because it isn't going in, but the cat knows it needs to go in the litter box, it will make him go in to it.
make sure you clean the area first, use bleach , since it kills the smell , and then try that if its possible.

Your litterbox needs to have fresh, clean litter.
When your cat poos where it should not, you should stick your cat's nose in front of it.
This will let them know this is "bad".
With a little patience and fresh litter, they will happily use the litter box.

Keep it clean at all times. Try a different litter or move the litter box.
