Yes Sammuel most defientely.

They are the true ethnic Jews. They can not, however, claim what tribe their family has originated from. Over time they have lost their tribe Identities.

Well any description what David may have looked like is really near impossible. However, my guess is that he would have the tan or "olive" as in olive wood color of skin that many Jews do have today. Blue eyes? I thought most Jews had dark colored eyes.

The real answer? Most are descendants of Old Testament Jews and a lot of other types of people too. And most other people have some sort of descent from Old Testament Jews too.

The reason is that other types of people converted to Judaism in the mean time, becoming part of the, excuse the terrible phrase, "Breeding Population." (Hence the reason you see all different colors and shapes.) Making new Jews by conversion is relatively rare compared to making new ones by giving birth to them, but 20 every year for 1500 years is a lot, espescially when they too have children.

The opposite is also true. Jews leave Judaism and marry people who aren't Jewish and join the general population. YOu can find a massive example of this type of situation in the Book of Ezrah in the Bible.

Finally there is the most sticky part of the answer, which is, if a Jew leaves his religion, even if he has a descent from these people, is he counted as part of the people who are the heirs of the Prophets you mentioned. The answer in Shulchan Aruch, the Talmud, and various commentators, is that if a Jew stops keeping the Sabbath or begins worshiping another G-d, or stops believing in the Jewish G-d, he is not part of the Jewish people until he repents from those choices.

In the 1800s a non-religious Jew named Theadore Herzl proposed that Jewishness not be a matter of religious identification, but that Jews should recognize themselves as an ethnic group, rather than a people united by common faith. This belief, when combined with Nationalism, is the foundation of Zionism. It is the dominant theory of, "What is a Jew," recognized by most modern Jews, though it is rejected by the most religious groups.

Hope that helps.

BTW, according to the Talmud, King David had red hair and his wife Michal, daughter of King Saul, was blond. The tribe of Dan was entirely black when they left Egypt. r

Yes, most Jewish families have been Jewish for 5,000 plus years. The Diaspora and diversity changes the physical diversity of the Jewish population. The genetic science conducted on Jewish populations with light skins and dark skins (African jews) including Jews who are black africans bear this truth out. The Jewsih populations regardless of their skin and eye color have the same genetic tags as current middle eastern, semetic, Jews. So, your theory, contained in the way you phrased your question, that Jews with blue eyes and fiar skin could not be descendants of semetic Jews of history is flawed. For the recored Abraham came from the city of Ur, in modern Iraq.

Well, only those in the tribe of Judah would be descendants of David. David isn't considered one of the patriarchs of the Jewish nation. He was a King descended from the house of Judah.

Abraham had a whole lot of sons that weren't in the line of promise. Only Isaac was the child of promise, so all Jews descend from Isaac. Isaac had two sons also, and only Jacob (Israel) is the patriarch of the Chosen People.

And to get around to answering your question, yes, modern Jews are descendants of Israel. Even those who convert to Judaism are technically "adopted" in to the House of Israel.

Definitely. Who else are claiming to be the Jews of the old testament. They were scattered throughout the earth and came back...Just as the Bible said. Many were in Germany, England, Russia, etc...If their genetics show blue eyes or other features..it's easily explained with the inter-mingling of the races...
