if translated to English literally, no. But remember the Japanese are very polite. So telling someone they look like a turtle, for example, is much more offensive than it is for an English speaker.
However, the main cuss word the Japanese like to use is "baka" which means idiot, and should be avoided at all costs.
And you can also offend an older or high ranking Japanese person by using casual language, and if you need to get someones attention, say "sumimasen" which means excuse me. Don't even think of saying "oi" (means 'hey') unless that person is really close to you.

Yes, but not nearly as often as Americans.
There just aren't so many shades and variety of swear words that are bad but can still be used by regular people, except maybe 'kuso (s**t!)'. Most of the curse words that do exsist sound so discriminatory and horrible that you really have to have a certain mental attitude to use them.
That said, there are other ways to insult someone verbally, as karkondrite explains above.

Yes, but Japanese society is not like American society and using "bad words" isn't nearly as bad being rude and impolite in your regular manner of speech toward a person whom should be getting respectful speech.
