multi format refers to the type of disc's it will play +r,+rw, -r, -rw, dvd ram etc. multi region refers to the region codes it will play. uk dvd are region 2, usa region 1, etc.

dvds from different countries are classed under different zones. uk dvds are zone 2 and i think dvds from the usa are zone 1. if your dvd player is multi format then it will play dvds from different countries with different zones.

Format refers to media files:
VOB --> DVD (DVD)
DAT --> VCD, SVCD (CD)
other files written either on DVD or CD disc:
samples:
MPEG, AVI, WMV --> movies
JPG, GIF -> camera Pics
MP3, WAV -> music
depending upon the limits of the firmware on your DvD player.
Because putting 1,000 mp3 in one folder it might see only 256.
Also, I have not seen one that supports long file names.
However try this! Convert 6 DVDs to AVI and voila you
have 12 hrs. of DVD movies on 1 DVD w/ full spectrum sound
and quality pics.

You can play DVD,s from any country on it.
