Yes, being independent in high school will make it easier when you go to college and in the job world. But in another sense, being even a little social will help you in the long run as well.

If you are comfortable in you, if you are internally fulfilled, then yes, independence is fine. We are all wired differently, and not everyone NEEDS to have a lot of social connections.

That said, don't ALIENATE yourself completely. You live in a world that means you MUST interact with other human beings, and might as well make sure they are allies rather than enemies or passive bags of human flesh passing by you.

you can always be yourself, but you must know that sometimes you have to do certain things that you dont like to get what you want. i am just like you, extremeley independent, but i have found that to be true.

And you have to ask yourself what is the reason im quiet, is it because i am shy, or is it because i am just quiet. because if it is because you are shy and are worried what people think, then you eventually need to fix that problem because it truly is a social problem (for you not society) and it is a problem with confidence and insecurity.
If you are quiet just because then i guess thats fine, but All i know is that i wann get paid and in order to get paid your gonna need to talk so i got over it about 2 years after high school.

I Think You Could Become a better person if you were more social. if i were alone, i would feel realy down about myself. i would find some people who like the same things as you do and gradually talk more to them. eventually you will become friends. i think it is a bad thing to be totally independent, because alot of the time, if you have a personal issue, who do you go to? and on days you have nothing to do.

That isnt being independent, its being alone. Being alone is fine, but friends made in high school can be some of the best friends you have in your life.

me to!!! im so glad im not alone. i thought i was weird. Everyone is always inviting me to parties, and bombfires, drinking in the woods, but i just never go. Guys ask me out and i will go out with them, but not see them EVERY single day of the week. i like to just stay up alone and in my room and chill, watch movies, read, write screenplays, and relax all the time.

whatever floats your boat, but don't isolate your self too much or you might end up being lonely in the long run
