There's the story of the guy who prayed to God every day to win the lottery. After a month the guy asked, "God, why won't you let me win the lottery?" And a booming voice from heaven sounded, "YOU TWIT!! TRY BUYING A LOTTERY TICKET!"
The moral of the story is if you want God to help you, get off your hind parts and move. Are you taking guitar LESSONS? No? Duh.

The Holy Spirit gives all of us unique gifts, abilities, and talents when we are born. If the Spirit chose to give you a certain gift, then you can pray to God that He will help you to use your gift to the best of your ability.
However, if the Holy Spirit didn't give you a specific gift, then She's not suddenly going to change Her mind and give it to you know, no matter how much you pray to God the Father. For instance, a handicapped person can pray that God will make him walk again, but it won't happen, because the Holy Spirit did not give this person the gift of mobility.
In your case, if the Spirit gave you the gift of guitar playing, then you can pray to God that He will help you use it and develop it. Since you say that you have been practicing for years without improvement, it is most likely that the Spirit did not give you this particular gift. I would suggest that you pray that God will help you find your particular gifts and to use them to the best of ability.

Well, have you prayed to God to bless someone in need?. Have you given someone money that honestly didn't have any? Have you been all you could be. Remember JOY: Jesus, Others & then Yourself.
Just because he hasn't blessed you in one day to play the guitar, things don't work like that.
You have to work to get better at it, and when God sees that you are trying, he'll help you.
If you know that you can play the guitar with all of your might. God will bless you, so that you are good.

The important thing to remember about God is that He does whatever He wants. He is unconstrained in His Will.
Obviously, the Will of God was not the same as your own will. We, imperfect human beings, are never fully in accord with the Divine Will and Purpose.

god knows what you need, and it probably isn't to play the guitar well. sometimes we need to just do things on our own , in this case, practice.
