Even when you are with compatriots who speak your native language, you should practice speaking English with each other. Don't be afraid to chat with native English speakers; they will admire your desire to improve your English.
Go to your local public library and find out if they have any tapes you can borrow.
Have someone call all the local colleges for you and find out which has the best ESL (English as a Second Language) program. Enroll in the program if you can afford the time and money. If not, meet with an ESL class instructor and find out what resources he or she is using for the class and buy yourself some appropriate tapes and books and study and practice diligently.
Check with your local churches. Many large churches offer limited instruction in English for those for whom English is not their native language. My church has taught ESL courses at six different proficiency levels. Such courses meet once a week.
If possible, your best bet is to attend ESL classes at a college, making this your full-time occupation for as long as it takes to learn to read and write proper English. I had a Russian guest one summer who attended an intensive ESL college summer course and it was amazing how much she learned.

Do you mean?. How can I improve my English communication?, an easy step is to use check spelling all the time, I don't know where are you from but, I am Mexican and I always watch TV, with subtitles in English, also movies, because sometimes words get out of your ear and you kinda get lost in any conversation you are listening to, you can also read magazines, newspaper, or anything, read books about anything but, mostly about what you are interested in, you know?, Try also music and try to translate if possible if not just listen and repeat phrases and words you don't know, hope this help you.

yes I agree, keep talking, even if it's by yourself, watch TV or better yet, go to a coffee house and watch people talking, I have found a lot of slang words here on answers, even ones that I don't understand myself so go out into the public, and if you don't understand a word ask a friend what it means.

Talk to people and read. The more you talk to people the more you will get exposed to new words and phrases and the more you read, the more your vocabulary will grow also. Get a dictionary and a newspaper and then get out and talk to people.
