If the discharge is actually white, it sounds like bacterial conjunctivitis. Best to see a dr. as soon as you can, especially if you have changes/decrease in vision.

If this is not possible, keep the eye clean, with clean cool water and/or compresses. This will help with any itching (DONT itch by the way). It sometimes helps to have a cool compress over the eye for a while.

Make sure when you rinse out the eye, to tilt your head to the right so that the fluid drains AWAY from your other eye. You don't want to spread any infection present to the other eye. Keep your hands clean, since you may touch the eye without realising it and spread the infection to the left one.

Oh yea, and light sometimes irritates it more, so try to keep away from the computer!

Hope this helps.

by this time you might have consulted your eye doctor.
firstly, don't touch your eyes.Put a broad spectrum antibiotic drop every hourly in your eye for two days. You can reduce the dose to 6 times a day after that.Don't use any cloth to wipe the discharge. If possible get the culture report early to start a proper treatment.Don't expose the eye to dry air, dust, smoke,
Take care

THE TIME ISN'T IMPORTANT YOU NEED TO GET TO THE ER NOW,ITS OPEN 24/7.THIS SOUNDS LIKE A BACTERIAL INFECTION THAT NEEDS TREATMENT PERIOD.THEY WILL DO A CULTURE AND SENSITIVITY TEST TO FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS.COVER YOUR EYE WITH A STERILE GAUZE PAD,TAPE GENTLY OVER YOUR EYE NOT TO ADD PRESSURE,KEEP YOUR HANDS AWAY,THAT CAUSES GERMS TO SPREAD. IT'S PROBABLY "PINK EYE" WHICH IS VERY CONTAGIOUS.THAT'S A STAPH INFECTION. BE CAREFUL,WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY. SW RNP

Rinse your eye out with warm water. Gargle with salt water. Feel better!
