They already have a BIGGER military. They are quantity not quality. But one of theirs versus an American troop would obviously loose to us. It's just a matter of quantity vs quality!

china doesnt have the resources to do it, america is larger than china in all respects, land mass, political influence, and economically.
china has more enemies than friends.
and the govt isnt to popular with its people, as you saw in the Soviet Union.
america has the silicon valley, the most technologically advanced place on earth. but what separates the 2 countries scientists is that china is doing what hitler did, alienating certain groups due to strict religious laws.
also america has the upper hand against china, bases in taiwan, japan, s. korea, and kyrzygstan. american military is the largest most technologically advanced on earth.
but the main thing is that chinas govt is not that popular with its people, the army would not remain loyal to the cause, and they not the USA would only establish a new govt. the chinese simply woulnt have the stomach for a war against a hyper-power.

I think it's entirely possible that China could train a comparable, if not better, army than the United States. Americans, generally, need to shed the idea that we're always going to be the only world superpower. That just isn't plausible. China definitely has the manpower, and probably has the know-how.

In some ways, one can argue that they already have a bigger and better military than the U.S. in that theirs clearly works better for what they need to do (basically bully and threaten the Taiwanese) than what our $500 billion a year gets (getting bogged down in absurd baby sitting and legacy cold war mandates including Korea, germany, serbia (hello! and folks think Iraq is a joke???), and yes Iraq and Afganistan. But no, I doubt they'll be able to build a better U.S. style (air, navy, special ops, high tech and systems and command and control...) in the next 20 - 30 years - the chinese are too smart to waste their money like we do.

China certainly has the resources to field a numerically superior army than the U.S. since America opened it's consumer markets to them. This act acted to enrich the country and give them one of the strongest economies in Asia.

It is sad to see some people so messed up. The US did not invade Iraq illegally unless your state of law is that of Saddams. Our congress authorized it, the UN sanctioned it, and we did it with the greatest amount of concern for civilian life ever done and all you can do is rag on us for it. China and Russia will not invade the US because we do not threaten them, but Saddam did threaten us do deal with it.

It's already bigger.
Their problem is logistics, a very long supply line to go anywhereand not enough trucks, ships or aircraft to carry the needed supplies .
A few tons of weed killer in the rice paddies and they're done.
