I got my ear pierced on the 15th of december which means I have had it for about three weeks. I still cannot sleep on that side, and I am unsure how to keep it really clean and help it heal quickly. Any advice?

Ok the best thing to do for your piercing is this, especially in the first few weeks when it is most important to keep it clean. First, dont touch it unless you have just washed your hands-they carry all kinds of bacteria on them. Second, sea salt soaks 2 times a day. Take a cup of warm water (as warm as you can stand without it being too hot) and a teaspoon of sea salt and hold it up to your ear for 10 min. Then after this make sure to rinse it off real good. Then you can also wash it with antibacterial soap/provon to keep it clean and move the piercing around to get soap everywhere. The sea salt helps remove bacteria from your piercing and promote healing and blood flow. If you do the soaks 2 times a day every day it will help it heal much quicker. When your ear is feeling much better you can just do the soap. I have had an industrial cartilage piercing for 3 months now and I can still not quite sleep on it yet without forming a pillow around it or cupping my hands around it. But as of today I think its pretty close to being fully healed. Maybe another month or so..

I also have my cartilage pierced and it will be hard to sleep on that side. What i did was use a screw back earring to keep it from pushing the back all the way up against the ear back. I also used Neosporin first aid antibiotic /pain relieving cream with made it heal quicker and less pain at night. Hope this helps

keep it clean, using antiseptic or peroxide, and keep turning it, just like the standard piercings in the earlobe, as it is in the cartilage it will take longer to heal
