A girl gave me her phone number. I called but she wasn't at home, so I left a message and my phone number on her answering machine (was this a mistake?). She hasn't returned my call. Should I take it as a sign she isn't interested, or should I try calling again?

I would wait AT LEAST 3 days and I would call back once more. If she's not at home then I would leave the info again and if she doesn't return the call she's not interested.

You left a message which threw the ball in her court. It's her turn to call you. Maybe she's changed her mind about you, and decided you're not for her. Or maybe she's now met someone else. Who knows? You may have even dialed the wrong number without realizing it, and left a message on a stranger's voicemail. There was nothing wrong with you leaving your phone number and asking her to call. It showed that you are sincere. If you want, call again and leave a 2nd message with your phone number once more. If she doesnt call the 2nd time, then forget her, and move on. You win some/ you lose some. That's life.

Maybe she just isn't home.
Maybe she didn't get the message.
What do you have to lose?
If you risk nothing you gain nothing.
So try again. maybe tommorrow.
Just don't mention anything about leaving the phone message.
Just call like you would any other friend.
Good Luck

Call again. Not everyone checks their messages regularly. If you speak to her, and get a sense that she is not interested then I would move on.

What have you got to lose man. You've got 2 options; don't call and go the rest of your life wondering, or call and find out. Keep in mind that she gave you her #. If she didn't want you to call her she wouldn't have done that.
