Besides an HD antenna, you cannot get HD stations without digital cable. If you stick with analog cable, then you are only going to get 70 SDTV cable channels.

If you are talking about the difference between Comedy Central on digital cable versus analog cable, then this is a harder question to answer. There is a more subtle difference.

If you connect your digital set top box via HDMI, then you can tell the difference. Most people upgrade to digital for either HD, pay per view, movie or flat out....more channels. Digital cable can give you over 100 channels.

YES digital gives a better picture than non-digital cable. but there is no hd on non-digital (analog) cable. there isnt hd on digital cable unless you have a hd cabe box. and then only certain channls have hd the hdchannels are the only channels that will show any hd even if the show says made or brocast in hd.
