My dog used to do that too when he was younger. What we did was go to Petsmart or another pet store and talk to the people there.

There is this product you can put in their food so when they "poop" it out, it smells/tastes aweful. They end up not going over and eating their own doo-doo.

They usually eat the grass and leaves if they have an upset stomach. We found that our dog would vomit the grass/leaves all the time. We just started reprimanding him when he would start eating the grass. It eventually all worked out.

Regardless, go to the store and ask about the additive (which by the way is all natural).

Hahaha! Dogs have odd habits, don't they? When a dog eats grass it is usually because it has an upset tummy and that induces vomiting. If he's eating poo that would explain the stomach upset. Try picking up the poop IMMEDIATELY!
Are you feeding him ENOUGH? Maybe he's still hungry? Or maybe the food is so good he wants to eat it again! ICK! Sorry!
Good luck!

You can and a lot of people do. Not use straight up fresh, but make a compost of it just like any other poo. Straight up it tends to damage plants just like any other. On the pathogens question, all po contains pathogens. trouble is human poo in particular contains more of the pathogens that harm humans, so there is reason to be careful. After a good bio digestion process which reaches quite high temps it is pretty safe and the nutrients have been converted to a form plants love. Now using home collected poo is far safer than town waste as town waste has a broader range of pathogens, you already have those in your own poo, plus town waste is more likely to be contaminated with heavy metals etc

Hey! Your dog seems to be scaring you alot! LOL! I know I am only 13 years old, but my dad is a GREAT expert. The reason your dog is eating his own poop is natural. Maybe not about the poop part, but eating grass and dirt is natural. Dogs know what foods are good for their diet, so they will eat grass and dirt as much as they need. BUT, after they poop, you HAVE to clean it up, so he/she doesn't eat it. You know how babies eat dirt sometimes? That's because they are like dogs when they are REALLY young, and know what is good for them and their body. The dog is throwing up mainly because of the poop. And top quality foods....your dog might not LIKE it, so just change it to regular food, and give your dog the freedom to eat grass and dirt, but just don't overdo it. Dont let them eat TOO much because dogs cant tell if they're are full or not. hope this helps.

I only know that grass helps the digestive system

Oh btw i just remembered .

Maybe your dog has a poor digestive system and all the vitamins and nutients your feeding him is all going down and being pooped out. So he may feel his body not being healthy with vitamins and nutrients he doesnt have so he eats his poop to get those things . Hope I helped your baby!

I dont know about what to do about the grass and leaves, my dogs do it too.
But as far as eating the poop, I've bought HOT sauce and when my dog poops, I put the sauce on the poop in the litter box (my dogs are litter trained), and then when they go to grab it and eat it they dont like the burn. So after a few trys of this home remedy they stopped completely.
And no, the HOT sauce will not hurt your pet.

Dogs do NOT digest there food 100 percent there for there is still food in there stool that smell good to them & taste good to them so they eat it. The proublum is that it can become a behavieral proublum/habit. eatting grass and leaves does releave some stomach problumes...cut and paste this......... http://www.dogtrainingbasics.com/Poop%20Eaters%20Anonymous.htm

Pet stores sell things to feed to your dog to make their poop taste bad. Try keeping your dog on a leash and clean up after him. If he eats another dogs poop he could get Worms or eat something that could make him sick. I would keep a close eye on him. If he is a puppy he'll probably grow out of this. Good luck
