Sugar free sums are made for those who fear a weight increse. Because its the sugar in the gums that is later converted into carbohydrates and then glycogen and later then stored in the body in the form of 'simple glycogen' or 'fats', resulting in a weight increase. So the sugar free gums are free of such sugar components...Sweeteners are used instead, that are carbohydrates but which ore easily excreted undigested.
