i believe in Santa Clause, i believe he loves each and everyone of us, that's why he flys around the world giving presents, and he doesn't want to give anyone coal, but since he loves everyone so much lets them choose to believe in him, and if they don't believe in him then what choice does he have but to give you coal?

I didn't know about the father Christmas thing and coal till now. I suppose what you mean is that the people that haven't been good get coal.

There is an interesting passage about coal in the bible. Its about heaping burning coal on the heads of your enemies. And it's often quoted erroneously. Because they used to take coals to each other in little pots on the heads so that the others fire could be lit for cooking. So interestingly it meant you were doing the person a great service by heaping coals on them.

I think its similarly a good thing in the tradition of father Christmas in that the trivial things like toys are not as important for the poor people as the coal which they need to sustain life. I think in this case when father Christmas is giving you coal because you don't believe in him then it has a similar correlation to the biblical teaching of grace.

This is a wonderful comparative analogy to monotheism of all stripes. "Reward" or "punishment" speaks to a parent/child relationship. Santa Claus speaks to the same thing in the minds of children who believe and have been taught to believe by their parents. "He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows if you're awake, he knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake!"

Follow the rules and you will receive a great reward! But as with Santa Claus, eventually the child grows up and discovers that Santa is not real. The belief is shattered and either the child takes away some glorious memories or they are left feeling taken. Unfortunately...

What's left for those who "grow up" and either stop believing or desire a more adult relationship with the divine?

Ho, ho, ho!

I think you'll find the coal is for children on the 'Naughty List' and presents for those on the 'Nice' one.

I think you're a Christian on the look out for a convenient analogy - am I right? But your argument is flawed, since there's nothing about a requirement for belief there, but nice try.

You could be a Pastafarian in the Church of the flying spaghetti monster. "Be touched by his noodly goodness" you know it makes sense. Give up All this Santa nonsense. Only pasta can be saved! he shed his sauce for you, how can you live without his Parmesan topping? Ramen to you all.

You are bored and need to put yourself to work and occupy your time more efficiently. That is who you are.
You are attempting to make a religious analogy but you do not have the higher echelons of intellect to do so.
Make yourself happy. Create a life that supports you and your surroundings. Happiness and love of others and their love for you will follow.
Good luck.
