How can they possibly believe in a God that is going to hold them accountable for the fraud that they are perpetrating?
NO Kidding I used to know this girl that was married to an evangelist and she saw receipts for wheelchair rentals so they could fake healings.

I believe that Satan has them blinded so they really believe what they're preaching. One day though, they will have to answer to God.

As a Christian, one would be able to discern if the TV evangelist was a born again Christian or not.

Fake healings isn't of God. God does heal people miraculously so there is no need for fake healings when a person is anointed with a powerful gift of faith & healing.

An example of one who wasn't a born again Christian was that Ted guy who was into drugs and fornications. Another example is Jimmy Baker. I think he still hasn't confessed Jesus Christ his Lord though he has a Church somewhere. Repenting of sinning or sins caught in, isn't actually confessing Jesus Christ Lord. Especially if the repenting is done to people and not God. True Christian Evangelists have a prayer connection with God through the spiritual rebirth. They can pray to God 24/7 anytime or place. And are called to Evangelism by the Lord.

But the receipt for wheelchair rentals could be to rent wheelchairs for people who needed them. You would have to be more specific in discription. Faking healings could possibly be blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. It is lying about the Holy Spirit.

First, not all are fraudsters. Most aren't televised. Many who are don't do healings and such. You're talking about a minority.

Second, the "evidence" you offer wouldn't ever hold up in a court, as it's hearsay. This girl may have had an axe to grind. The wheelchair rentals may have been for invalids who didn't carry thier wheelchair in a car. It may have been for first-aid purposes as in large groups, people sometimes pass out.

I'm not doubting that such things happen and go on, but with the little information you presented, there are plausible alternative explanations. You need more than the word of an estranged spouse to debunk a matter of faith.

So you are saying God holds christians accountable. It seems to me that you haven't heard the whole story, the whole point that this evangelist is trying to make.

There's a second part to that, and its confession and forgiveness. It's the part where you are no longer accountable, because of Jesus.

Those that run scams and defraud people can’t possibly believe in God, otherwise they would know that they will face judgment for leading people astray. When Jesus warned against leading any of his little ones astray, he didn’t just mean children. He also meant new Christians. Anyone who is scamming them will face judgment.

So what can we conclude? Either they don’t really believe, or they think that the rules don’t apply to them.

Just because a minister goes on television does not mean that he is a fake. For instance, there has never been a hint of inpropriety about Billy Graham in his long ministry.

That said, I do believe that those who plead for money and encourage elderly old ladies to give them their savings, which they spend primarily on themselves, are beyond reprehensible. Yes, they are hypocrites.

not surprised whatsoever

they are simply confidence tricksters, or con artists

it's easier to spot them now

but they prey upon the need for christianity to prove what they doubt, over and over even if a sham they need it to continue onwards in thier lying to self about reality

google TBN scandles and see what ilk comes of it...even Paul Crouch fell hard in 2004 over similar reproaches for the man, Jimmy Baker he replaced

snake oil sales is as old as time itself
