It depends what the T rated game was and the PG-13 movie is, but usually no, your kid can watch it. now a days unless you want to watch Bambi where the mother is shot right in front of your kid's eyes, lol or The Lion King where the father gets trampled by wildebeest. I mean a lot of good movies are rated PG-13 so I would say yes and no I would say if a moron parent was yelling at you for letting your kids play the Sims that is dumb or if they think its bad for your kids to watch The Phantom of the Opera they are stupid. It depends on you as a person and your convictions. My advise listen to the Know it all Parents with a clean head try to think of it in there view. Just to see if maybe you do agree with them and why. If not just let it brush off. What is that saying oh yes Everyone is a Critic.

I am a parent as well I found that he my son was playing them games and watching the movies at his friends house anyways then i watched some movies on Disney and played regular pg game they are all pretty much the same . I will not allow M rated games or R rated movies . But I have realized do i really want want my child to grow up in this world not knowing anything. I find kids that grow up secluded tend to be worse off. We live in a rated R world . So now I do allow PG13 and T games . I hope you understand what I mean. Parenting is different for everyone no one should judge as long as the children are in being well taken care of.

It doesn't mean you are a bad parent. Your 12 year old may be and act more mature than other 12 year olds. Just use good judgement because it seems like some PG-13 movies should be rated R.

All I can say is that I feel sorry or the other parents child, still watching the boring "happily ever after" story's of g rated films.
When I was thirteen my parents had the same method as you, and I'm fine...the evil pg-13 ratings didn't eat me with scariness or "adult content"
Your a fine parent, just be sure your kid take all the T rated game themes with a dose of salt.
oh, and be sure to scan the movie first, some pg-13 movies should be rated G and some whould be rated R.

I don't think that makes you a bad parent. the other parent may have complained because perhaps your 12 year old was talking about stuff he/she had seen in these games and movies. Maybe just discuss the contents of these games/movies with your kid and make sure they know that some subjects are sensitive with others. Nothing about that makes you a bad parent though.

Many 12 year olds are mature enough for SOME T rated games and 99.9% of PG-13 movies are fine. Even some Rated R is fine as long as you know the content before hand.

Your values are obviously different from the other parent. As long as you sit down with your child and explain that these are all fantasy movies and games and make him/her understand that it is entertainment only, then you have nothing to worry about. But, make sure he/she is mature enough to handle these type activities. Some PG-13 movies can be brutal and downright inappropriate for anyone under the age of 13.

It's your responsibility as a parent to monitor what your child sees on TV and what kind of games she plays. There is a good reason why a rating is placed. Don't you think you should use it? Your 11year old is in an impressionable age where any thing that she sees , she can take literally or may take the wrong way. Unless you are there to explain every time than it's OK because you are there the guide her and tell her what is ok and not ok.

As long as you supervise your child while he/she is doing this things or pre-approve what he/she is watching/playing this does not make you a bad parent. Your child is 12, so this is close enough to right age for such entertainment. I think it can also be bad to shelter a child so much that they are in for a shock later on. And, who cares what other people think or say if you believe you are doing a good job parenting. Well, my mom-a good parent- let me watch rated R movies with her when I was 12--granted they were probably much tamer by today's standards, but still. As long as I watched them with her, she didn't care.

I don't believe it makes you a bad parent. I do believe, however, that as a parent, you are the one who can best decide if your child is mature enough to handle specific games, movies, etc.
If you are watching these movies or playing these games with your child, that makes it even better, so you can have open discussions. This person probably doubts their own parenting skills and just wants to attack yours.
