Ok....heres a question i've been pondering since 9-11! according to my religion God has our life all planned out including when and how we adre going to die. Ok, thats fine. but he also gives us free will. So, by argument it was gods plan for all those people to die on that day the same way. But if he also gives us free will then the terrorists could have chosen not to do what they did and then none of those people would have died at all. I 've been questioning the existance of god. I cant get past this dilemna. what do you think?

we all have this dilemma.. of course there is a god, but he has such a power that we cannot understand it.. it`s too big for us.. our free will stands in believing in Him or not.. at all cost.

okay. what i believe is this. God knows all. he knows what our futures are, he knows what we will do next, he knows whether we're going to eat an apple or a banana. He is outside time, he holds knowledge of past, present and future. For this reason, the course in our lives: the decisions we will make He has written down. This is our destiny. BUT because we are unaware of our destiny it has absolutely no interference to our free will.

I also believe however that nothing happens in life without almighty God's will. This does not mean that God has willed all of our actions and therefore we are not responsible because the word *will* here does not mean he has made them come true only that he has allowed them. So if we commit a sin, he has allowed it to happen, therefore willed it. Likewise, the same goes for a good deed. We can never blame our destiny for our own shortcomings because that would be like punching a wall and then blaming the forces of nature for your pain. You knew beforehand that if you punched the wall your hand would hurt, but did it anyway.

So when making a decision for the future do not think about your destiny because you dont know it and cannot say that you are making a decision because its your destiny BUT when looking back at the past, think what happened was meant to be. that was my destiny because you know that.

Believe it or not, God has not predetermined the date of your death, and that is not in scripture.

The terrorists have free will and they were exercising it when they flew the planes into the World Trade Center on 9-11.

Yes they could have chosen not to fly into the tower, but they did not do that.

You are right, none of those people would have died.

The only places that the word predestined is used in the Bible is in passages that say we were predestined to become sons and daughters of God.

And if God decided all those people were going to die on that day in 9/11 then the terrorists are not to blame. OO

In my opinion, fate and destiny are different things.
Fate- day to day things that you do that is planned ahead of time. Very mundane.

Destiny- Something you will do in your life that is not mundane.

To me, fate is nonexistent, but destiny is not. Part of the time we spend in the Summerlands reviewing our last life, we decide what we need to do in the next.

It may have been the will of God for those people to die that way. Since death is not eternal, I do not think God's will was harsh and cruel. The way it happened was horrible and what happened was really awful. However, it happened so we could learn from it.

you have been recieving false teaching whilst yes God can see the future and yes he does "know" what we will do !He does not and will not cause it! for he did give us the gift of free will and we are free to choose When God made mAN HE DID NOT WANT TO MAKE ROBOTSso he gifted man with free will also those terrorists did not worship the God of the Christians they worship Allah !these are not one and the same we as Christians worship Jesus as the son of our God !while the quoran the book of the Muslims tells us there God Allah has no sons so they cannot be the same one! Also in the commandments our God tells us not to worship other Gods ,why would he do so if there were no others???

According to what i think i have understood in my religion, God gave us free will so we must act according to our conscience while always going back to God, we must do the best we can, and if things does not seem to function as we like, we have to believe that it is destiny without giving up, that prevents us from doing silly things and avoids many useless torments.

What happened that day was because of free will, sin, and the fallen nature of human beings. It wasn't God's plan. Knowing something is going to happen isn't the same thing as planning for it to happen.

Have faith....God is watching everything.
Those who died on 9-11 were surely victim of circumstance. They were innocent and God has his own plan to take care of them.

And those who have done that crime, will surely end up in hell.God gave all of us free will power. Those terrorists chose to abuse it and because of their deed innocent people died.
They will be punished....
I'm a Muslim girl and I know I'll not be spared if i do anything wrong. I can't say 'oh,I'm Muslim...Allah'll not punish me'....Allah punish those who creates mayhem and troubles on earth..And rewards them who are innocents...

Don't lose heart...God's there,he's watching everyone. It's our duty to stop violence.Because we are given that power.

You have hit on a very important question. Namely that it is not possible for everything to be part of God's plan and for us to also have free will. Those two concepts are diametrically opposed. The question that you have to answer for yourself is which one to believe in. You can't believe in both.

It may be possible for events to have happenned in a pre-determined way in one dimension, while being an element of free will in another dimension. It's a bit like the concept of parrallel universes.
But I think ONLY that way would this duality be possible....if real.
