The grass always appears greener on the other side.
It would make a great film or twilight zone scenario, because an entirely new issue of problems and growing pains would ensue.
Good question, though.

Perhaps some may be happier, however it all depends on what motivation they used to chose their family. Say for example children that are being abused, would chose a family that would not abuse them, then I would tend to think they would be happier. On the other hand, if a child wants a family that will let them get away with more things, then I would say that perhaps for a time they might be happy but when things start to go wrong, ie they get arrested, etc... then they won't be so happy. So it really comes down to the reasons behind their choice(s).

Not always. It is upto us to make a heaven or hell out of things. The choice is ours. We may not always be happy with the family we choose, right? Things may go wrong. If your choice goes wrong, what will you do?spend the rest of your life blaming urself or wallowing in selfpity? The greatest thing is to find happiness in the family you have been provided with. It is meaningless to pine for something which u think is better and which in reality may not be as good as you think. Even if you choose ur family, it is upto u to make it a success or a hell. Just try to spread happiness in ur family and you will be amazed to find that you are indeed blessed with the best family.

Even if you can choose your family you can't be sure that you will be happy because the character and values of that family will be shaped by internal and external factors, individual personalities or traits, events. Your introduction to your choosen family might cause a different events in their life and also different reactions in many situations involving you.
If you want to have a family, start one and be a good parent to your children. Ask God to give you the wisdom to do it.

If you are well-advised enough to choose the right family.... and I am sure there is advice available on the subject.... in the Hindu scriptures, it says to choose a family that has enough money to take care of you, a good family that will be kind to you and see that you have a decent life (the Garuda Purana, I think ...forgot the source.)

Do you know anyone that at one time or another wasn't happy with their family?
And with that, if thay had the opportunity to choose to be in that family, wouldn't that just be one more thing to be mad about?
No, if people had a choice, they wouldn't be any happier.

Not really, bcuz no matter who is in your life, there will always be some kind of a conflict, whether you could pick your family members, or have the family you were brought up in!
There's no difference!
