First thing is to never put a cotton swab inside the ear as this can push the ear wax deeper into the canal or poke a hole in your ear drum. Since you ear is clogged try using sudafed to see if this helps. If it doesn't clear up then then your best bet is to see the doc to be sure you don't have ear wax or something else in it causing the problem. Ears are self cleaning and some wax is needed to trap the dirt and debris that can enter your ear. As new wax is made it pushes the old wax out so do not attempt to stick anything in your ear. The tinnitus is probably from your cold and there is not much you can do about that till you get over it. If you cold has truely lasted 2 weeks it is time to see a doc though as anytime you have a cold that last longer than 10 days or so might be something more like a sinus infection or bronchitis etc.

You can safely put a few drops of isopropyl alcohol in your ear. It will absorb any moisture from your shower. Sounds to me like you have water in your ear. Also, lay down for about 15 minutes with the clogged ear "down". That might allow drainage and open it up.

Try performing valsalva's maneuver. pinch your nose shut, close your mouth--this is important GENTLY, act like your blowing-
while keeping you nose and mouth shut. it will increase the pressure in your eustachian tube and should clear it. it may take a few tries---but be GENTLE don't blow hard, or quick. After you get an intitail pop, try chewing gum. If this doesn't work, or you have increased pain or difficulty swallowing-go to the doctor--
Good Luck

Put a teaspoon of sweet oil in your ear. It will clean it out. Do not dig in it.
