It celebrates the birth of our Christ, and has been twisted along the way for the benefit of big business.I alway like how gas and other prices go up in the holidays.

It should be about Jesus. Christmas is the biggest feast in the world of Christianity. However it's sad because it has really become a consumerism thing. Even non-Christians celebrate Christmas. Probably the reason is because it really appeals to all people, the gesture of giving. And it's sad too because capitalists had distorted this day as an opportunity to earn more bucks. I'm not really aginst the act of giving and sharing but people must know the essence behind the act of giving gifts: It is because God gave his son Jusus for us and our salvation and by remembering such love God showed to humanity, we must also do an act of sharing of being a blessing to others. If only the true meaning of Christmas is broadcasted to everyone and not the consumerism thing, the world could be a better place and all people will see one of the principles of Christianity in its "truest" sense which is Christmas. Belated Merry Christmas and belated New Year too!!! God Bless! Peace.

Christmas is truly about Jesus. Its the Christian celebration of the birth of the Savior.. Sadly, Christmas has become all about consumerism. people have to buy the nicest gifts and the best decorations. No one even had time to completley understand the meaning of the holiday. It has become disrespectful to not get a gift for someone rather then spending your time with them and celebrating the true meaning of the holiday.. Its sad really were all guilty of it even me being a Catholic, I have to admit there have been times that I have been more involved with the consumerism of it all rather than celebrating the birth of Jesus. Sad but hopefully one day we will begin to understand the true meaning of it all

To me and many Americans it is about the birth of Jesus, some it's about nothing, just a free ride for a free vacation, and others it's about giving gifts and capital gain.
Nothing is more important in this world than the birth of Jesus Christ. I just pray that one day the anti-Christ atheist, and the politically correct followers, will lose their battle.

Christmas should be about Jesus being born and us celebrating his coming, but you know almost everyone looks forward to the gifts! What is funny is that In Mexico they do not give gifts until january 6th which is the day that the Three Kings came and brought gifts to Jesus...Doesnt that make more sence? Im opening my presents on the 6th of January from now on!! LOL

While the holiday has it's basis in religion, it's TOTALLY about consumerism these days. Try shopping on a weekend just before christmas and see how many rude people you run into. Yeah, it's all about the spirit of giving, good will toward man..... Right....

Je$u$ is consumerism. But there will be a Second Coming, with Virgin Mary Cheney and her Immaculate Conception. The last snake-oil salesman was Jesus H. Christ; the GOP (God's Oily Profits) Messiah will be Jesus W. Christ.
SERMON OF A GOD SALESMAN
Pray
Then pay
That's the way
To make my day

It's all about the money. It's almost funny how people get upset when they learn that Christmas is actually a Pagan holiday not a Christian one. Jesus was born in late summer, & his birthday was moved to December to help convert the pagens.

It isn't about Jesus, because the greed that insues on that day is an insult to His name. Why would we glorify a day, when it really should be all about the Man?

What it is suppossed to be about(Jesus Birthday) and what it is becoming and/or has become about are quite different today. It's a shame too. The allmighty dollar wins again.
