A few things to keep in mind:

Chryslers are not noted for being all that reliable, but the PT Cruiser has been average in that regard. Some problem areas are the suspension and the paint/trim tend to fade (especially the plastic)

This car is on borrowed time with this many miles. You will be lucky if you do not have an expensive repair around the corner

This car is a slug and can barely get out of its way. I think it is even a 3sp auto. It is not all that peppy shall we say.

This car is on Neon mechanicals, are Neons are the closest things to disposable cars out there.

The dealer has a nice mark-up on this car. Would be surprised if they paid more than $3000 for it. Must be in pretty good shape if they did not dump it at auction.

It is a gamble, especially if you are financing. This car has maybe 2-3yrs of conservative driving left. Would kinda suck if it blew up and you still have 20+ payments on it. If this is a cash deal, and you like the car (and you can get that price down), go for it. Take it to an independant mechanic that day and have them tear into it. If it is about to blow, take it back by day 5.

Ummmm.......It's a 6 year old car with 140k on it. $4900 is about average for this car. If the dealer is willing to give that kind of warranty on it, then by all means. Just read the fine print.

Check the carfax (the dealer should give you this for free) to make sure it hasn't been in a major accident, flood, etc., and then spend $50 and let an independent mechanic check it out. Cheap insurance against problems later. Have fun with it!

if it sounds too good it may be too water logged from New Orleans--------------------a bunch of insurance cars are out there with new sweats and carpet --these cars are not worth the driving off the car lot....find another car and look on the net for comparision prices..
