If it came from the food, take it back to the store and then go to a different store to buy a different brand. If it didn't come from the food then call an exterminator. If the bugs are there, then there's more in the house. The only time I saw bugs in cat food is when they were cockroaches and the house was infested! An exterminator will know exactly what you are dealing with and most of them will come out for free estimates. When you get the exterminator envolved, please remember that if your exterminator tells you that you have to leave the house that it means anything living needs to be out of your house. Including your pets. Good luck

My cats had the same problem. Every summer ants and other bugs enter my house and immediately congregate at the food bowl. What the vets told us to do was place the food dish in a container filled with an inch or two of water. Then place the food dish in the water filled container. The water helps keep the ants/bugs out of the food. Ever since, we haven't had any trouble with bugs of any type in the food Hope this helps

Take the food back to the store. Little black bugs are not uncommon in cereal and grain type foods. I don't how many times I've found little bugs in my flour and cornmeal.
Remember that cat food is a food source for other elements as well. I have dogs and when I bring home the bagged food, I put it into these oversized tin cans to keep the bugs out. I even have these large pickle jars that I use to store their biscuits and other treats. One of my neighbors uses a plastic storage unit that he bought at a department store to keep his dog's food fresh and bug free.
Bugs are everywhere, but that's not to say that you can't do something to keep them away from food products.

one among my cats has a comfortable abdomen, and almost each and every thing made her vomit. We offered well-being middle (at PetSmart) and he or she retains her foodstuff down now. It seems she became basically allergic to all the chemical dyes they extra to food market manufacturers. verify your foodstuff's elements. Are they actually all-organic? solid-high quality cat foodstuff would not have through-products, countless grains, corn, gluten, or dyes. some manufacturers declare they are "all-organic" at the same time as really they have elements that should not be in there. also, it would want to easily be that you switched the foodstuff too quickly. try blending countless the foodstuff in with the unique foodstuff you've been feeding him. upload somewhat more desirable each and each and every week in small quantities to get him used to the hot foodstuff. it really is a superb theory to take him to the vets if it would not sparkling up. That way he might want to be right clinically determined , and also you may see if that's an allergic reaction or yet another medical problem of a few form. even if it really is an allergic reaction, the vet will manage to pinpoint what your cat is allergic to, or perhaps perchance propose a superb sort of foodstuff with out that element. solid success and that i'm hoping your cat feels more desirable quickly.

Check inside the BOTTOM of the food container to see if there is an infestation that could be the source.
If that is not it, then pull the food bowl a few inches away from the wall (most people keep them against a wall) and watch the area. (Use some kind of a sticky strip between the bowl and the wall if you can't watch physically) Check to see if there might be critters coming through the wall that may need to be removed.

is it wet or dry food?
It cannot be good for your cat to be eating food that is covered in bugs. Switch to dry food and keep it in an airtight container and feed your cat twice a day instead of leaving food out all day and night.

The bugs are hiding somewhere near where you put the cat's bowl. I'd suggest moving the bowl somewhere else, identifying the bug, and spraying the area with the appropriate poison.

You might want to try giving your kitty's food bowl a good scrubbing. And take the food up between feeding times: I have to watch out for ants trying to get into mine though it's not so bad when the food isn't down where it can be easily found.
Good luck!

If it's dry food, they are probably flour beetles.
