I heard that hummus has a great healthy reputation, so I wanna try it for myself, but I dont like buying it off the shelves, as they normally have additives that I could omit if I made it myself

It is made with pureed chick peas, garlic, salt, tahini (sesame seed paste), and lemon juice - you can also add for different flavorings olive oil, cumin, red pepper, roasted red peppers, different types of herbs, etc. - things that you like to zip it up a notch. You can find all kinds of recipes with a google search. Try a site like All Recipes or something - Enjoy! - it is a yummy healthy dip!

Personally I love the pita chips with hummus - they just seem to go very well together. Also good crusty French bread sliced up always goes well with hummus. You can even use veggies to dip in the hummus - celery, bell pepper pieces, carrots, sliced squash, etc.

There are plenty of fresh hummus brands in the supermarket. I know that the main ingredient are chick peas and then you add what you want. I love scallion hummus. I would google "recipe for hummus". Hummus is mostly used on pita bread.

A friend from Turkey made a dip of hummus with mashed up chick peas in it. I'm not a fan of chick peas but it was delicious! Lots of garlic and spices! And healthy too. They dip hunks of bread in it.
