After I brush my hair to go somewhere, it always puffs up! It's annoying me and my mom said I can't cut it short because it'll make me look dumb. So what should I do!?!?!

are you using a conditioner after you wash your hair??
that solves a lot of this poofy-fly away problem.
if you are....
comb it once with a big tooth comb ...and then just leave it alone till the next day
or try a ponytail/messy bun or a braid until your girlfriends can figure out whats going on.!!!
never use a brush on curly hair or dry hair which I suspect yours is one or both of these.

Apply small amount of styling gel on the brush and then brush your hair

this is a tip from my hairdresser...use just a bit of baby oil! put just a drop or two on your hands and smooths into hair..works great with no buildup and leaves your hair shiny and smooth! Best of all no puffed up hair!
