You might try Scoop Away Multi-Cat formula cat litter. I have 2 cats myself and only use the one litter box...as long as I clean the box out daily the house remains odor free. If you are not able to find this brand of cat litter, you might try any multi-cat formula you can find. You might also try adding a couple tablespoons of baking soda to the litter. This can absorb a lot of the smell. I don't follow this guideline myself, but the experts say that you should have one more litter box than you have cats. This may not be possible for you since you live in a small apartment but is something to keep in mind. You might also try an automatic timed spray air freshener around your litter box areas. Good luck. P.S. I DO NOT recommend the Arm & Hammer litter. It turns into a nasty clay when it becomes wet and doesn't work as well as the Scoop Away scoopable litter.

I'm not a cat owner but I have worked as a vet tech and we used baking soda or charcoal inserts to absorb odor. Arm and Hammer has a great cat litter that does well. Also try lining the inside of the cat boxes with a trash bag for easy clean up and sanatize the boxes after each litter change. Be sure to change the litter often. We also used a lot of Oust! Hope this helps.

Use Frash Step Clumping litter. Remove cat feces immediately after cat poops - that stinks up the box if you let the poop stay there for hours. Also, remove all clumps from cat urine twice a day. In other words, keep the liter box clean all the time. Some people sprinkle bakng soda on the bottom of the litter but that is not necessary if you use Fresh Step or similar good quality litter.

Hello, I have two dogs that are litter trained in one large box and I have a lot of poop in there. HA.
The box needs to be cleaned regularly and keep trying different brands of cat litter until one works for the smell.
I had to do that and so far Fresh Step is the best. The smell has reduced dramatically and it clumps so much better.
Good Luck with the cats!
Also, you should try and have one litter box, a bigger one. I dont use the actual litter boxes you can buy in the store. I use the plastic underbed storage bins as they are perfect in height and I can get them in different sizes.

I have one kitten. We keep her litter box in our bathroom. We use odour reducing litter and baking soda for pet odours. We also have some small "scent releasers" in that area to mask some of the smell. And we empty the litter box every single day. This is has worked and there is minimal smell, but it does take a bit of time. Good luck.

I 've got a couple of suggestions:
1. I've found that using an automatic litter box works well
2. If you get an automatic litter box change the cartons once a week
3. You can get little patches that you can stick to the lid of the cartons to help elimanate the odors
4. Spray the Air and carpet Febreze
5. Sprinkle baking soda in the box every time you change the carton
I hope this works it has worked for me for years

I think you should use scoopable litter so you can remove the nasties quickly without getting into a mess! You can also invest in an automatic litter box that scoops for you and collects the clumps in a sealed receptacle underneath.
Alternatively you can buy scented litter or add a little talc for smell.

Try mixing in some baking soda with the litter. I think there is a brand out there that already has baking soda in it too. Also, it's a good idea to scoop the boxes daily if you aren't doing that already.

Use a clumping litter and scoop the litter EVERY DAY. I have 5 housecats, use Scoop-Away litter and two cat boxes. I scoop the litter every single day, put the scoops into plastic shopping bags and into the garbage. I have no odor problem.

I'm in a similar position.
Clean the litter every day, and periodically scrub the boxes with Lysol. And once in a while add baking soda for odor control.
Good luck!
