voltage regulator is part of the alternator, best to replace the alternator, then the complete part will be warranted and no stripping of componants is required, old alternator off and new unit on. sounds easy and usually is until you get an alternator that sits at the rear of the engine and then it becomes a nightmare.

Only vehicles with generators require V. regulator.
