That's one of the reasons there are so many translations. Some are believed to be more direct translations, some are more colloquial and accessible to modern audiences, some are more akin to the original Hebrew/Aramaic meanings of the words. Usually, scholars will say that the best ones are the ones meeting the latter--matching the original language's meaning and intentions. It is still possible, though, to translate the same phrase slightly different just because of slight nuances in a language, or because one word can mean multiple things. In the case you're stating, though, most versions I've checked use the term "murder" for the 6th commandment. Most people would agree that what makes murder different from regular killing is that it takes innocent life.
