Female cats first go into heat around 6 months of age, sometimes closer to a year old. It will last about a week at a time and the frequency can vary but is usually about every one to two months. If you are planning on letting her get pregnant, I would suggest that you allow her to be in heat at least once or twice before allowing her to get pregnant. If you are not wanting her to have kittens, I would recommend getting her spayed as soon as possible. If you don't, when she is in heat she could become very annoying. When a female cat is in heat she will start roaming around aimlessly and making a very annoying yowling sound. So, if you are not planning on raising kittens you may want to save your sanity by having her spayed early.

It does sound like she is pregnant. Cat's are pregnant for 9 weeks or so and my cat has just recently giving birth. If her belly is bigger, and swollen outwards (instead of downwards) and is firm when you touch it, she is most likely pregnant. Cats nipples will elongate and change colour, although my cats nipple never changed colour around 3-5 weeks. In weeks 8-9 her milk glands will fill up and will droop a little bit. My cat became exceptionally affectionate, ate loads of food, and towards th end of her pregnancy, she slept alot. Also, keep an eye out for her becoming restless and getting into small spaces or behind furniture. This is typical behaviour of a mummy cat trying to find a place to have the babies. Also check to see if she has collected soft clothes or ripped up paper as she will be using these for her nest. Hope this helps and good luck with the kittens if and when they arrive! Little bundles of joy! I never regretted breeding my cat!

If she is an indoor cat and never gets to "satisfy the urge" she will continue to go in heat frequently, and it can last up to 2 weeks.
As often as every 5-6 weeks.
It is not very healthy for them either to continually go into heat without getting relief, it can cause internal problems for her later in life. You really should get her fixed as soon as you can, but she can't be in heat when you take her to get fixed, they will send you home and tell you to come back when her cycle is over.

Get her spayed now. If she is acting funny then watch out you are in for a treat. I have had females and when she starts to meow all the time and rubbing her butt on the floor better have her fixed. Its a night mare when they get in to heat.

She should be spayed. Five or six months is the usual time. Watch her, they sometimes will go pee in unusual places when they are in heat, so have her spayed right away.
