If you have a bad tutor and are getting good grades, then I say fire the tutor! But you sound like that's what you want: "How do you" implies that you want to do the thing described. Why? Hope it's not your English tutor we are talking about! LOL

This has happened to me. I have had a tutor, though smart, that taught me poorly. In this case do not depend on the tutor for much. Ask the teacher for help, do your homework, study with a group, and then if you have specific questions for the tutor, ask him/or her. That way you are dictating the tutoring session.

If you get good grades, but have a bad tutor, means you are a good student, and probably do not need one.
So, if that's your case, I recommend you to study by yourself. Masybe you can get some counseling on study methods (I am getting them), but you can do the whole thing by yourself.
