i am NOT an alchoholic! i drink less than my friends, im a student all students drink it doesnt mean your an alchoholic.an alchoholic is someone who wants to drink everyday, i know because my dad is one and this is not the problem.

its just that i care about my health and wondering if its 2 much.

the reason i drink is because im socialising and u actually can have a better night after a few drinks.

As a college student I say you aren't drinking enough, but it really depends on what you are drinking, if its beer, that stuff is not healthy for you. each can is a meal in calories, now if it is liquor, you are drinking too much because you are killing brain cells and destroying your body, slow it down... do not get drunk just stay with a buzz you keep yourself conscious and aware and you still have the fun effects of drinking....just don't drive

this is probably not a healthy drinking pattern, especially for a woman

" "There is evidence that repeated, abrupt increases of alcohol levels in the brain, followed by abstinence, induces more damage in the brain than the same amount of alcohol taken uninterrupted in the same length of time," says Duka.

The study found that young people whose questionnaires revealed them to be binge-drinkers were generally less upbeat than regular drinkers and did less well on short-term memory tests.

"It also seemed to be the women binge drinkers that were worse affected," says Townshend. "The binge drinking population used to be mostly men and boys - but now they are very much being caught up by women. If it's the case that their cognitive function is more impaired then this is something to worry about."

"What is particularly novel about this report is the finding that females are impaired more than males," agrees Fulton Crews, an alcohol researcher at the University of North Carolina, US.

Duka and Townshend surveyed 100 students aged 18 to 30 who said they were healthy and moderate-to-heavy social drinkers. They used the pattern of drinking to define binge drinking rather than simply counting the number of drinks in a row, or weekly alcohol consumption.

"You could be at a dinner party and have four drinks in a row but I wouldn't say that was binge drinking," explains Townshend. "But if you go out on a Friday night and drink to get drunk, it is more likely to be binge drinking." "

the other test I would apply is that if you can't have the "fun" without the drinking (or at least very little drinking) or if the "fun" IS the drinking then you definitely have a problem

Getting drunk every weekend is a sign you are at least abusing alcohol, and may be an alcoholic. A person does not have to drink daily to be an alcoholic - that level of drinking is a far gone, killing himself slowly, alcoholic.

Since your father is an alcoholic, you are basically an idiot to drink this much. You will be addicted - well, hell, you are already, aren't you? If not, just don't drink this weekend. I bet you can't.

What does getting drunk have to do with having fun? If you're deep emotionally or intellectually, not too much after a few occasions, right? People get drunk every weekend when they are empty or are in emotional pain (maybe from having been raised in day care) or ar lacking in imagination.

The good news is, you can control this. Pubs sound wonderful, and I don't know if it would be hard to get as nice a place to gather with people, but unless you can have one drink and then sip water all night, you are basically signing up for slow suicide.

i believe you are the best judge. how do you feel the next morning, sick? have you done things you regret? do you remember doing them? no. DO you find your friends telling you about them later. Have your friends or other people told you that you behaviour leaves alot to be desired either aggressive or idiotic? are you contently cut off or ask to leave venues on a regular basis or even more than every 3 months. DO you often wonder where you are or how you got home WHEN YOU WAKE UP? YOU WOULD BE ASK IF YOU DIDN'T THINK A PROBLEM.
IF THE ANSWER TO MORE 3 OR 4 IS YES THAN YOU NEED TO ASSESS YOUR DRINKING HABITS.

Guess that might be your social outlet over there? Why not thin out the drinks so as to last longer. Getting drunk does not really excuse you from acting responsibly.

I think you binge drink more than drink too much. Try switching the vodka and alcopops for red wine and soda. Much better for you (reduces heart disease) and the water will help recovery the next day...

Dont just suddenly STOP drinking. You will experience severe withdrawal symptoms.
This can happen even with coffee.
Start reducing slowly.Instead of Vodka, try something a bit less hard.
