A chap named Moller has been working on a skycar project for thirty years or so, and is nowhere near certification, let alone production; he is trying to cheat the laws of physics by using lots of power, rather than adequately sized airfoils, to provide lift. It can work, but in terms of fuel costs, it is hideously expensive. The requirements for ground machines and air machines are too different to make it reasonable to build one machine that will do both jobs well.

Not for a very, very, long time. Think about it how will it be controlled? There's no way the feds are gonna just let folks hop in one and start flying around.
