It depends on the a lot....
can you afford too stay home?
Are you able to find a day care provider that you can trust?
Can you work from home?
What do you want to do.
I tried to go back after 6 months and our baby (at the time) got ill and the place of employment were very rude, day care wouldn't take him and I wouldn't have let them. (Mom verses sitter when sick baby is involved...Mom wins) Ended up quiting.
However I do work with the school district now and my hours are the same as our children's.

Best wishes.....that's really a personal choice and depends on the situation.

I think that is up to the parents individually and what they can afford. I think it is great to be able to spend time with your kids forever, but financially that isn't possible. I also think it is unfair to the kids to keep them at home with only the parent all the time. I think they need to develop social skills, that usually starts at six months. If you can afford it and still give your children part time playmates regularly, then it would be great. I have been a stay at home mom, a working mom, and now a self employed mom that gives me the time to be away from them and be with them. It is perfect for me and my kids, but may not be for everyone.

When I find a good job that is cost effective since the cost of daycare would eat up so much of my paycheck. In the meantime, I am enjoying getting to be a SAHM. I'd hoped to be able to do that until my child(ren) started school even before I had children, but couldn't do it because I became a single mom.
