My daughter is 2 1/2 and I started potty training her 4 days ago. She's doing pretty good as she gets the basic concept, and only has little accidents. However, her bed is very wet and she usually poops before she lets me know that she's up. I've been told not to put a pull-up on her as it sends a confusing message. Any tips???

Are you trying to potty train at night or day? If she is not completely trained during the day than I would hold off on trying to train at night. She needs to gets the whole daytime potty training down first.
I am a firm believer that children will go to the potty when they are ready....not when the parent is ready for them to go.
I tried so hard to potty train both of my girls. Then one day they decided to go on the potty and that was the end of that. I thought for sure that they would be graduating and still not potty trained, but they were both trained on month after there 3rd birthday.
Good luck!!

sounds like shes not ready ,i have a daughter of the same age myself and have learned so far that when they are ready they will tell you prior to going potty .your key word is you started to potty train her when shes ready she'll do it all on her own. find a reward system of some kind stickers work well use construction paper and put it up on the wall and for every attempt to use the potty whether its an accident or a successful attempt give a sticker if after 1 month of 24/7 no diapers and consistent encouragement to use the potty she still isn't getting it just means she is not ready and that is OK .my daughter will use the potty every time to go poop but she has a hard time using it to go pee and she's 2 and a half so be patient and they figure it out when they are ready.

When i potty trained my 2 year old i did but a diaper or even pull ups on at night and if we where going out. It's easier to start with the day training and then move on to night but get a plastic cover for the bed. Also try to limit the drinking at night, when i started the night training i wouldn't let my son have anything to drink after 7pm and he would go to bed at 9pm so it would give him 2 hours to get the rest of the pee out of the bladder. I hope i helped and good luck

I have 3 kids and just got done potty training the last one.YaY! The hardest part with all 3 was the: going "doo-doo" in the toilet. They just don't feel comfortable doing that without something on their bum...Of course, they get over that, but it takes a little longer than learning to pee comfortably in the toilet.

I had to form a schedule for my kids, which wasn't easy! They would normally nap for 1 1\2 hours or so and always come out of their room with poopy-pants etc. So,I started waking them up after a hour and 15 minute nap and went straight for the bathroom.

Pull ups are nice for the fact that they absorb better then underwear,so less mess. But,when your daughter seems like she can handle it (you'll know),I'd just put her in underwear and have no more pull ups or diapers. That was hard for me to do....I mean: how risky is that??And I felt like I was setting myself up for a ton of laundry! But,I realized that I was letting things slip and falling back on the trusty diaper, instead of my daughter. I'm sure you'll get more advice than you'll know what to do with : ) Good luck and may patience be with you ; )

p.s. a lil tip - i also gave rewards after going #2 only and they did go because of that. But after awhile I told them they weren't getting anymore treats(bribes) because they were a BIG GIRL/BOY now and gave them all their new undies to put away.

Potty training at night is a different process than potty training in the day. You should leave diapers or pull ups on her at night until she starts to wake up dry on her own. The reason is, while during the day she can tell you when she needs to go, at night she might sleep through her body's signals. She can't help it. Those little muscles need to build up control.

Just concentrate on day time potty training, and if she happens to wake up dry in the morning, praise her. But don't take away the diapers until she's woken up dry every morning for a week.

She is doing good...my 3 1/2 yr old boy gives me problems with potty training!!! Just keep working with her and put her on the potty every 2 hrs. And, if she is going poop the same time everyday than try to catch her and put her on the potty!!!

This is what I recommend for the night time and even can use for day time...fully cloth with waterproof outer layer for protection of clothing and furniture. After that consistancy is the key.

I have been using the cloth diapers from this company and I have seen my friends use these training pants...This is what we are ordering...my daughter is 21months old and and at the rate she is going she will be completly trained by the summer...good luck.
ps. they resell real well on line to others who use cloth diapers..ebay and through the company itself.

tinytush.com under cloth diapers then look at potty trainning.

your doing fine. it can be a stressfull thing for them to learn and they may have some fears about it that she is not letting you know about. Keep taking her everylittle while. I used undies during the day and pull-ups at night. I told my kids that pull-up were night time undies and if they kept the night time undies dry and clean then in the morning they would get a treat.
Well this worked great with my little girl, she got to eat alittle candy in the morning and the pullups stayed clean, But with my son who was just turning 3
I had to give him a dollar every morning, LOL, you should see his piggy bank.
Good luck. and remeber they wont be potty trained in a week it takes time!!!

Don't listen to whoever told you pull ups are a bad thing.Sometimes children train in different ways. She could be more of a heavy sleeper and can not understand she is doing it.I find as long as they are doing fine during the day then night time I wouldn't worry so much.I have five children and I worried more about day time then night time and they all ended fine.I used pull ups at night with all of them.It is harder for them to control themselves at night than daytime.Remember during the day she has you t help and remind her to go but when she is asleep she doesn't her body just isn't ready for training at night yet.Good luck and remember have patience,Because that is really all you need.

When she makes a mess in the floor clean it up, take it outside and put it by a tree. Then put her beside of the tree and her "mess". When she goes there on her own give her alot of praise and offer her a treat. It takes a few times but eventually she will get the idea and start scratching at your front door when she needs to go out and use it.
