LOL, I think they're still measuring the first box! The website doesn't have anything addressing this, but interestingly, Bill Clinton put a package of Twinkies in a time capsule.

According to SNOPES, the shelf life of a twinkie is 25 days.

It's not 100 years... By the time that Twinkie's reach your home, they're already about 6 months old. Twinkies last about 6-8 months after you get it to your home. This is about the length of time for it to change the origional taste. If you are looking to see how long it would take for one to be broken down... then you are probably looking at about 50 years.

I saw a thing on the food channel once that said retialers must pull the unsold twinkies every 20 days or so. so 25 days sounds about right.

I dont think they've been around long enough to know.....the preservatives should serve them well into the 22nd century.
