She has four 6-week old kittens. The kittens have been eating regular cat food for about the last 2 weeks and nursing very little since then. Momma kitty is very thin and her milk sack is a sagging hardened mass. Is this normal or what should I do? Please help! She may be a momma now, but she is still my baby girl.

How long will it take for the hardening to go away if this is just normal?

She doesn't seem to act like her abdominal area is painful...so is she okay for now? Just keep an eye on her for redness and swelling of the nipples?

its fine.... your mama is just starting to wean her babies so she isn't giving them as much milk and just like humans and every other milk producing animal she is still producing milk so the mammary glands will fill and harden. this will slowly stop as her body realises that she no longer needs that much milk to feed her babies. if her breast start feeling really hot and seem red and sore and she seems terribly uncomfortable she may have mastitis which is an infection in her mammary glands. it is easily treatable so if you see any signs of this talk to your vet. good luck its nice to see how much you care about your kitty!

Yes, this is normal, after the kittens had been winged, the remaining milk will harden, then go away

There's a possibility that she's formed a plug. Sometimes this happens to lactating animals. I would definitely make a vet appointment because plugs can often lead to infection, which will need a vet appt anyway. I hope this helps. Good luck
