How is he doing those 30 reps?

Is this three sets of 10? Or is he just picking up a bar and ripping off 30, 40, or 50 reps? I ask because you did say, "...over 30 reps..."

He's better off doing a set of 10, then taking a small break, then doing another set of 10. This way he will actually increaste the blood flow into the muscles, and that's the whole point, other than obviouly using the muscles.

If he wants to simply keep his muscle tone, then he should keep the weight the same, and increase the reps. I think this is what you are asking, and this is fine, yes.

Also, over time, it is okay to increase the weight. Theoretically, you could take this to a point to where you are doing 100 sets to get the same work out, and that's ridiculous. Weight lifting was never meant to be an all day affair.

The key to this is to keep his reps to a smaller number with breaks in between. It doesn't have to be 10, but that's an easy number to count with. If he wants to go with 15 or 20, that's okay, but when you start to tire, 20 reps is an awful lot of reps to make to complete a set.

i've got questioned approximately this too as i'm usually noticeably paranoid approximately getting "cumbersome". i'm not a coach, besides the shown fact that my bf has a level in workout technological understanding and tells me to do many reps with gentle weights. I usually commence out with 40 pounds...do approximately 30-35 reps, circulate all the way down to 30 pounds and do as many as i will, and then circulate all the way down to twenty pounds and do as many as i will. it incredibly is on the bench press/militia press machines. i've got consistently heard that for firming you will possibly desire to not existence heavy weights. while you're greater suitable commence out with 50-60 pounds and circulate down from there. additionally, it would desire to be a competent thought to pay a coach for like a million consultation, get the tricks and ordinary down and circulate from there on your guy or woman.

Yes, it is. Generally, lower reps build bulk. Higher reps get you ripped. It is certainly effective if that's what you want to do.
