It is a sung prayer, it is an asking for "God to Bless America" One must remember that quite a few people don't think there is anything wrong with what we do as long as we are winning, or what at the very least they believe is winning. So what has been going on in Iraq has little impact on peoples religious point of view "....................it's not as if they were Christian"

Actually, the God bless America concept has always disturbed me. Personally, I believe that if you truly believe in a benevolent God then it is better to say God Bless Creation. But as one member told me, maybe we need to say America bless God.

why would you expect a secular nation to act like a christian(not to mention that "chrisitan" nations have such a wonderful history...) one?
the US is a secular nation. It has been that way since it's founding. look at the treaty with tripoli from 1797(the 5th congress). it clearly states that the USA is NOT a christian nation in any way.
