I personally love Rottweillers, They are great family pets and love children. I would buy a Rottweiller today. Who would want a small naff dog that could not protect the home and family. I don't see the point in it.

To answer your question - You seem to love Rottweillers. You should get another one I think. Full Rottweiller though. They are awesome looking dogs and powerfull. Personally I own an Akita. They are the same size and weight as a Rottie. Both are first class guard dogs and have loads of stamina. Go on - Treat yourself to another Rottie.

Lab pups make good companions for Rotties. Just remember, Labs require activity (this too will help your rottie with their tendancy for less activity). They as they grow, can stand up to the brut of a rottweiler. Especially when they play together. Just remember to introduce them slowly. Let your rottie know when he is being too rough on the pup. Try not to pay too much more attention to the pup (as we all tend to do) in front of the Rottie. They have a tendancy to be very protective and jealous. The pup will soon learn from the older dog.

A big puppy because your Rottweiler may try to get the best of it. Try getting a Bernese Mountain Dog. They grow up to be fairly huge and would probably scare the Rottweiler.

i LOVE ROTTIES!!! they are such sweet dogs. i hate the fact they get a bad rap cuz of a few nasty ones, but comeone, there are a few dogs in each breed that are nasty...anyhow... lol. why dont you go to a shelter with your dog and your 12 yr old... see which one gets along with both. just a thought. or you could get a golden retriever, those are great with anything! or a lab, boxer, but i still would suggest getting another mutt, they are such unique animals!
