Money is just money. It' a vehicle of exchange. It is the physical interpretation of a system by which we exchange services with one another for the good of all parties involved. We need it in order to have our needs met. You can't take it with you, but ya can't go anywhere without it either. You might just as well ask whether the motor car is the new "God". A thing isn't a "god" just because we have to use it for a necessary purpose in our present day world.
Money, just like anything else you can think of that humans employ in their daily life, can be used, or misused, but you can't try to argue that something ought to be eliminated, just because SOME people misuse it. If we went that route, lol nobody would ever be able to find a kitchen knife, or a packet of ex-lax LOLOL.

No. I live in the USA, and the rich people around me are the most moral people I've ever met. They don't only spend money on charity, but they actually volunteer for charity work. This is a clear proof that they don't see money as a goal in itself.
They are rich enough to have the luxury to become moral, and follow the Judeo-Christian moral laws, without the package of a religion. Religion is needed for those who struggle, and need to have their moral conduct enforced by a possible "judge".

People depend on it so much to have whatever they want that it does become the new idol for people. But faithful Christians will see money as paper and not worship it for anything.

if they check thier bank account before making a prayer

yeah

the power to do something arises with material and monetary possesion, not in miracles or god

the fact they use money and not prayer speakes volumes, faith in money vs faith in thier god that is supposedly from nomadic goat herders

thier god is invested in materials and commodities and the power of work to earn the money and be thier own god and make thier own decisions

The bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil. It sounds to me like it's always been that way. Even before Escalades and 3,000,000,000.00 cross necklaces.
