It's got an abscess.
Probably from a bite or some other injury.
Get it checked out by a vet. You should get a course of anti-bios and need to change the dressing regularly, but it should clear up.

Good luck.
Cheers.

That sounds like a sebaceous cyst. My dog had one last year.

You can tell whether it is or not by trying to wiggle it about - the dog will hate it, but try!

If it wiggles about easily over the surface of the skin then it's almost certainly a cyst or something similar. If it doesn't move easily then it's potentially more serious.

I would take the dog to the vet to have it checked out.

Some dogs are really prone to these cysts-You should take to the vets to be sure that is all it is-that way if the dog gets more you will know not to worry about them-just keep an eye on them-try & resist the temptation to keep squeezing them!!they sound harmless but you should get them checked to be sure-if they are harmless cysts dont let the vet give you antibiotics-just an excuse to charge you even more!

I have no idea, but 1.Stop squeezing it and 2.Bring the dog to the vet. The lump could become infectious (if it isn't already that is) and then you'll be in much worse trouble.

i used to have a Norwegian elk hound that for some unknown reason kept getting large cysts. the vet thought that it could be the undercoating that breed has. the vet put a wick though the cyst and i would clean it out daily at home. your dogs problem sounds a lot like what smokey had. it could be something much worse, though. your dog MUST go to the vet.

My cat had the exact same thing last month and it turned out to be an abscess. He needed to go to the vet to have it drained and your dog must go too, as soon as possible, as the infection can spread and it's very uncomfortable for poor doggy. For now, it helps to bathe the wound in warm salty water and place a warm flannel over it to aid the draining.

It does sound like an abscess. Put lots of antibiotic salve over the abscess and bandage it. If there is no improvement at all in the morning, then call your vet.
