First of all, you can't make your Dad do anything. You can find out exactly why he keeps saying no. If just the idea of having a puppy is what bothers him than there is not much you can do. If it really is a responsibility issue than prove you are responsible. Get up for school and ready on time, get homework done without being told, help around the house without being told. These types of things will prove you are responsible. Don't turn yourself into slave labor though just to get the puppy. Good luck, I want a puppy but my husband keeps saying NO. He likes cats better which we do have.

Well first, I have to say, it is your parents rules no matter what. I must suffer this with mine and have come to accept that it is thier house, they make the rules.
Now, putting that aside, if you still really really really want a puppy, there are a few things you must do.
First, show him you are responsible to keep your dog clean by keeping your room and things clean. Do more around the house and show him that you are willing to take responsibility. A dog is a 12-15 year commitment so it is not to be taken lightly. Soon that cute puppy you got will grow to be a fully grown dog.
Show him that you can afford the food, toys, supplies, grooming, ect. You must also show him that you can pay for any vet bills that may come up. Trust me, I have two cats and have already spent near $500 since April on my cats in vet bills.
Also show him the benifits of having a dog around. Dogs make great companions and some breeds are highly loyal.
The truth is, because a dog is not just one person's pet, it will be up to your dad, at times to care for the dog, so in a way, its his dog too, and he may not be ready for that kind of commitment himself. I'd sit him down and talk about HIS reasons not to get a dog. Talk them through and try to resolve some of his doubt or if he's just not ready, give him some time.

You are right, you will have to prove to him that you are responsible and deserving. Start by doing all the things that are expected of you without having to be asked, like doing your homework, cleaning your room, helping out with chores, coming home on time, etc. Maybe you can do some research on the kind of dog you want and tell your dad about it - that way he'll know you are serious about it and have put thought into it.
Good luck!

Make sure you know all your stuff about dogs. Try to do your best in everything while being responsible around the house. I got my parents to say yes after I dog-sat for the neighbors and my parents saw that I could keep up in school, chores, sports AND take care and give lots of attention to a dog all at once, I finally got my golden retriever, Jack. He's awesome.

Make a promise to him! Act responsible. By starting to try to get good marks in school. If he's asking u to help him with something, do it! That could prove your dad that you can be responsible for it!
and another tricks is that everytime u see a puppy you can said "Awww, that's cute! If i have one i would take care of it" or
"I wish i could have a puppy" !this is for emergency only!hehe
the point is u have to make you'r dad believe that you can take care of it! And if you got that puppy promise you'll take care of it!
Good Luck!

Do the little things that convince him.
Do you clean your room, do your homework, help out around the house...(here's the catch) WITHOUT BEING TOLD.
Your Dad is saying no because he knows HE will be the one caring for the dog and he probably does not need another chore.
Caring for an animal is a huge responsibility. That Dog counts on you for his very existence.

show him you are responsible by doing extra chores, going to bed without complaining, etc. also, try carrying a bad of flour around for a week, and if it doesn't break, maybe you could get a puppy. but they really are a huge responsibility. maybe you could get a hamster first, and if you do well, you could get a puppy or even and older dog.

Tell him that you will take the dog out, feed it, give it new water, pick up its "messes" and toys it leaves around the house...... It worked for me =) Start being more responsible, empty the dishwasher or do the dishes, clean you room, and bathroom, vacuum the house, do everyday chores like that.
