Megan, I can relate to your problem. If you can manage to keep chocolate and the other junk foods you like, away from you for a week or so, you'll find the cravings dissappear. Begin substituting unhealthy foods with more healthy alternatives, even if it's something you wouldn't normally be interested in eating. It really works.
When I'm at the grocery checkout, if I spot the candy bars, I immediately turn my back. Otherwise, I'll get weak, and buy one. You have to find whatever works for you. Visit the sites I have listed below. As you find new ways to conquer your cravings, write them down. Refer back to them as often as necessary and you'll find it gets easier. Good luck. Remember, you're not alone.

It is really not what you eat- but rather how much you eat. I love chocolate too, so i really cant say that is one thing i will ever give up. HOWEVER- i have made a choice to slim down so i limit how much of everything i eat.
Few suggestions:
Drink more water. Drink at least 2 cups with every meal, and more in between those. It will help to curb your hunger.
cut everything in half. Just because you have 2 pieces of chicken on your plate doesnt mean you need to eat them right now. When you fix your plate, immediately put up half of it (works greast at restaraunts as well). Eat your veggies first, and then work your way around the plate. Meat usually is the last thing to eat.
Watch your calories. For a few days jot down everything you eat and how many calories. So if you grab a lean pocket from the freezer for lunch- write it down. If you nibble chocolate, write it down. In a few days you will be able to see where you need to change. Try and cut as many calories out of your day without forcing yourself to starve. Like on mine- i saw i was eating about 2100 calories per day before i started to diet. I restricted myself a hundred calories less for a week, and then 50 calories a week less every week after that. Dont go under 1400 calories though.
Walk a lot.
Finally, put the final prize into perspective. Maybe it is to achieve better health- maybe it is to slim down for your wedding. Take a good look at yourself now and everytime you feel yourself falling back, go to that thought and see where you need to be.
Put down the doughnuts and pick up a glass of water or some veggies...
good luck!
(sorry for rambling!)

If motivation works for you and you love your food (as do I) try weight watchers, that way you can really eat what you want, nothing is really "off limits" you just have to watch your "points'...
I can't afford weight watchers right now (although they have a special (no enrollment fee) and I may just join up... just count calories - don't go over a certain amount per day. Don't pick a ridiculous amount like 1200 calories, you'll be starving.
I'm signed up at fitday.com where there is a free online "journal" and tracking of what you eat and the #of calories , it's pretty cool for being free... but it's up to you to stick to it.

I used to weigh almost 200 pounds and only stand 5-4 it took some serious modivation and 3 years but, went from a size 18 and over to a size 4! Every time I got the urge to break the diet,I took a look at the dress I longed to fit back into,it's ok to let yourself be free one day a week, that's part of what keeps you modivated but, just keep in in moderation...The program I used is called Micheal Thurmand's six week body make over.... it really did work! Peace

Eat chocolate as part of food and before it and Eat nourishing food with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables being part of it. Chew each morsel at least 32 times. This will activate signal to the brain as soon as u have had enough. Besides this change in eating style, take regular light exercises and brisk walks every day. U will be able to gain/shed all extra weight gracefully and in a reasonable time span.

you need to do cardio and weight training and stay off the scale. the weight training may cause you to gain wight or not lose as fast as you would like but this is deceiving as muscle weighs more than fat, but burns it quick so you will tone up, and it will keep burning fat well after you quit working out.

if you are willing to do weight watchers, they'll give you a plan so that you'll still be able to eat the things you want and still lose weight.
