Why would oversleeping make you tired? I would have thought that the more sleep you get the more rejuvenated you would be when you arise. What gives?

If you sleep more than usual, and wake up tired, you are experiencing one of Nature's defense mechanisms. Either you are coming down with a cold or flu, or you are getting depressed. Sleep is often a way to avoid facing your waking life. Guys in prison tend to sleep as much as possible, because being awake is so boring.

Also, people can literally be bored to sleep. I find that, no matter how much sleep I have had, if I try to do something really boring, I find my eyes drooping. It's my signal to go do something else for awhile. I once lost a temporary assignment keypunching because I fell asleep at the machine during coffee break after having punched in one phone number after another for several hours. No loss, I figure.

I'd never make it on an assembly line, would I?

Its because the more You get the more You want. Your body gets drugged into thinking it wants more and is in drunk mode. I have this problem all the time because I am a insomniac and then I oversleep but am more tired when I get too much sleep and my doctor explained that to me as I just did to You! Hope this helps You. Thanks for asking and have a super blessed day, Glory

Too much sleep can make you groggy due to the over production of certain neurotransmitters. I know of a story of guy that slept for a week and when he woke up he became sort of psychotic. Therefore too much sleep and too little sleep can be a problem.

The blood circulation is not proper as we sleep. That's why one gets tired of sleeping, especially if you have a routine life.

Good question. Maybe cuz the brain gets overcharged, but I don't know how that relates to being tired.
